Jensen's Do's
-realize buying a puppy is a lifetime commitment
-take your puppy to your vet within 48 hours of receiving her/him
-love and respect your puppy as she/he loves and respects you
-always have FRESH water available for your puppy.I change their water 6-10 times a day).
-spend lots of time with your puppy but they need their rest too.
-praise,praise,praise your puppy when she/he does something right or stops doing something wrong when told "no". If you praise and give the puppy a treat each time, you will have a puppy that obeys in a very short time
-be consistent. If it is wrong today it stays wrong tomorrow.
-be sure to have lots of chewy things for your puppy. It is natural for them to chew things and if they can’t find anything else, your $200.00 leather shoes will do the trick.
-scold the puppy only when you catch her/him in the act, not 2 hours later as they, like children, have no idea what you’re upset about
-start teaching your puppy obedience commands. It is never too early
-keep your puppy’s eyes and ears clean. If your puppys eyes look dry use artificial tears.I wipe each dogs and puppys eyes every morning and every night.Try not to get water In your puppys ears when bathing her/him.
-have a good groomer. A good groomer will keep the hair out of your dogs ears, clip her/his nails and clean the anal tract.
